* STATE ID CARDS State officials process state ID cards from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at Mililani High School cafeteria. For details, call 587-3111.
* MAORI CULTURE Polynesian Cultural Center hosts its annual Te Manahua Maori Cultural Competition at 9 a.m. Aug. 9. Admission is $8 and $6. Call 293-3333.
* CRUISE NIGHT Haleiwa hosts a Cruise Night for car fans starting at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 at Breakers. Call 423-1198.
* POLO SEASON Hawaii Polo Club’s season is under way, with matches at 2 p.m. every Sunday. Gates at Mokuleia polo field open at 11:30 a.m., and admission is $8 (or two-for-one for those with military ID). Cocktails and Manny’s Huli-Huli chicken are available on the grounds. Aug. 10 is Military Appreciation Day with the Anthony Ryan Band; Aug. 17 (Headband plays) and 24 (Rolando Sanchez & Brown Sound Orchestra) feature matches between Argentina and Hawaii. Call 637-8401.
* BOOK TALK Jo Piltz discusses Three Cups of Tea at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 11 at Mililani Library. The book by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin examines “One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace: One School at a Time.” Call 627-7470.
* PRESCHOOL STORIES Mililani Library’s preschool storytime has North Shore author Kerry Germain as guest storyteller at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 12. Germain wrote Kimo’s Surfing Lesson. Call 627-7470.
* HOUSING Honolulu Habitat for Humanity has information sessions at 6 p.m. Aug. 12 at Kahuku Library and 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at Laie Elementary cafeteria for those who want to help build their own homes. Call 538-7070.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 16 and 17 at Mililani Town Center. Call 845-9966.
* NEIGHBORS Wahiawa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at Wahiawa District Park; the Mililani Mauka-Launani Valley board meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 in the Mililani Mauka Elementary School cafeteria. Call 768-3710.
* CHILDREN’S COUNCIL The Central District North Community Children’s Council meets at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at Leilehua Golf Course to assist parents of children with special needs. Call 655-4777.
* TOWN CENTER Mililani Town Center marks its 20th year from 11 a.m. to 2 pm. Aug. 23 with games, entertainment, a bonsai display, silent auction and more. Call 738-5088.
