Below are highlights of what’s happening in the Central Oahu community for the next few weeks.

* Peter Rockford Espiritu’s Tau Dance Theatre presents the opera Naupaka - A Hawaiian Love Story at 8 p.m. Oct. 7 at LCC Theatre. Tickets are $25 and $21. Call 455-0385.

* Classes in salsa, swing and waltz begin this month at the Waialua Community Association, meeting for five weeks from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Fee is $5 per couple, $7.50 for singles. Call Doris Kalai at 637-7703.


* Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 7 at Pupukea Foodland, and from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and 21 at Mililani Town Center. Call 845-9966.

* Hawaii Polo Club hosts family attractions, entertainment and plenty of polo at 2 p.m. Sundays at Mokuleia. Admission is $7. Call 637-8401.

* Teachers Institute Day Oct. 9 means no classes for Oahu public school students.

* HMSA runs a flu shot clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Mililani Town Center Longs Drugs and Oct. 21 at Leeward Community College. Nonmembers’ fee is $35. Call 948-6826.

* Mililani High School’s home-coming parade is at 1 p.m. Oct. 13, starting and ending at the school for about 800 marchers, the band, vehicles and floats. Call 627-7373.

* Waialua High School’s home-coming parade is at 4 p.m. Oct. 13, starting and ending at the school for about 400 marchers, the band, vehicles and floats. Call 637-8200.

* Intuitive Entertainment presents a Psychic Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 14-15 at Mililani Town Center.

* Area neighborhood boards meet at 7 p.m. on the following dates: Wahiawa, Oct. 16 at Wahiawa District Park; Mililani MaukaLaunani Valley, Oct. 17 at Mililani Mauka Elementary; North Shore, Oct. 24 at John Kalili Surf Center; and Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Mililani Rec Center III. * Storyteller Jeff Gere shares a few in “Teen Tell” at 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at Schofield Barracks Library, and tells stories from his Silly N Spooky Tales CD at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Mililani Library (627-7470).

* Waialua Library has an exhibit of four area artists through Oct. 28, with a portion of sales going to the library fund. They are sculptor Angelika Veach and painters Joel Martin Veach, Dale Andres and Elaine Merry Kam. Call 637-7446.


* Mililani Shopping Center presents “Magical Halloween” from 2 to 5 p.m Oct. 28 with crafts, activities and magic by Chris da Clown and a costume parade with Stevo the Clown. Call 235-0404.

* The Hawaii State FCU marks its 70th year with a health and safety fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 28 at its new branch at the entrance to Mililani Mauka.

* North Shore Artists Studio Tour, a group of six artists, opens their studios to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays. Call 637-8934 or log onto www.hawaiinorthshoreartists.com

* The Central Oahu Moms Club invites stay-at-home mothers and their children to join its activities. Call 218-8524.
