* GREEN HOUR Wahiawa Botanical Garden offers a “green hour” activity for families at 2:30 p.m. each Wednesday from Oct. 29 through Dec. 10, giving folks an outdoor break from TV, computers and video games. Call 621-5463.

* VETERANS MARCH The annual Wahiawa Veterans Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 on California Avenue, marching from Kaala Elementary School to Wahiawa District Park, where post-parade ceremonies and speeches are planned. Call 621-0115.

* SCHOOL, LIBRARY CLOSURES All public schools and libraries are closed Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 11 and from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Mililani Town Center; and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 28 at Wahiawa General Hospital. Call 845-9966.

* STORYTELLERS Storyteller Nyla Fujii-Babb and dancer Yukie Shiroma present the free show, McDermott in Motion, at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Mililani Library for ages 5 and older. Call 627-7470.

* WAHIAWA MUSIC Higher Ground Cafe offers entertainment from 7 p.m. on various nights at 70 Kukui St. Current gigs include Open Mic at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 and 20; Jazz with Steve Lucas, Nando Suan and the boys at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 and 20; Ernie Cruz Jr. at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14; and Tavana at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15. * ORNAMENT CLASS Doris Lee presents a class on Nature Holiday Ornaments at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Fee is $5. Call 522-7064.

* HI-5 DRIVE Leilehua High School’s 2009 Project Grad committee collects HI-5 containers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 15 in the school parking lot. Call 542-1793.

* WAHIAWA TOUR The Wahiawa Community and Business Association conducts a free bus tour of Wahiawa starting at 10 a.m. Nov. 15 at Center Street, featuring the history and agricultural heritage of the town. Call the WCBA office by Nov. 13 for reservations, 621-6531.

* NEIGHBORS The Wahiawa-Whitmore Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at Wahiawa District Park; the Mililani Mauka-Launani Valley board meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at Mililani Mauka Elementary School; the Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu board meets at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 26 at Mililani Rec Center III; and the North Shore board meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at John Kalili Surf Center. * CHILDREN’S COUNCIL The Central District North’s Community Children’s Council meets at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 at Leilehua Golf Club dining area. Parents of children with special needs are welcome. Call 655-4777.

* ABC CRAFT FAIR Mililani High School’s ABC Craft Fair is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 22, offering dozens of vendors plus the school’s own colorful, recycled plastic eco-tote bags for $4 each.

* ART WALK Haleiwa presents its monthly Haleiwa Art Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 29 throughout the town with live entertainment, featured artists, pupus and sidewalk sales. Call 637-4558.

* SURF CULTURE The North Shore Surf and Cultural Museum is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day but Tuesday in the North Shore Marketplace, offering displays of vintage boards, posters and much more. Donation is requested. Call 637-8888.

* ESCRIMA Patrick Delos Santos offers Kali Escrima classes in Filipino self-defense (stick fighting) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 9:30 a.m. Saturdays at Mililani Waena Elementary School. Fee is $50 per month. Call 398-0119.
