* AMERICAN LEGIONAmerican Legion’s Mililani Post 56 meets at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at the National Guard Armory across from Wheeler Army Airfield to inaugurate its new home meeting place. All Legionnaires are welcome. Call 685-0434.
* CLOSURE Wahiawa Library’s parking lot closes beginning Sept. 1 for two weeks for ADA access work and to repair sidewalks.
* HABITAT MEETINGS Honolulu Habitat for Humanity conducts information sessions on its home building program at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 1 and 8 at Kahuku Library. Call 538-7070.
* SQUARE DANCING Caller Norm Hangman and the Paradise Shufflers teach easy line, circle and square dances at 6 p.m. Sept. 5 at Christ Lutheran Church on Meheula Parkway. A potluck dinner goes along with the free dance classes. No experience needed, but wear comfortable shoes. Call Sally at 224-5161.
* LIBRARY CLOSURES Area public libraries are closed Sept. 5-7 for Labor Day weekend. Public schools are closed Sept. 7.
* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 5 and 19 at Mililani Town Center (845-9966); 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at Alii Beach Park, sponsored by Alii Beach Medical Group. (637-7425); 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at Wahiawa hospital. Call 845-9966.
* KEIKI CELEBRATION Mililani Shopping Center has an Island Keiki Celebration from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 5 with face-painting, balloons, activities, Mad Science and a chance to enter the Island Family and Island Baby magazines’ Cover Kids Search. (Bring photo of your child ages 6 months to 12 years.)
* BANDSTAND MUSIC The U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet Band plays at 4 p.m. Sept. 6 at Waialua Bandstand. Call 637-4520.
* SUNSET BEACH HEARING The city Department of Planning and Permitting conducts a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8 at Sunset Beach Recreation Center on improvement plans for Sunset Beach Neighborhood Park. Call 768-8027.
* LAKE WILSON Public comments are due Sept. 8 regarding a proposed water quality decision affecting the North and South forks of Kaukonahua Stream, above Wahiawa reservoir and Lake Wilson. The pollution control regulations will affect the Kaiaka Bay watershed. Call Barbara Matsunaga at 586-4337.
* DOG ADOPTIONS Hawaii Dog Foundation has “meet and greet” sessions from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 11 and 25 at Mililani Mauka Dog Park so prospective adoptive families can get acquainted with the foundation’s homeless dogs. Call 782-8387.
* IRRIGATION Wahiawa Botanical Garden offers a free class in Irrigation Basics, with emphasis on drip irrigation, at 9 a.m. Sept. 18. Call 621-5463.
