* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at Mililani High School and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at Leilehua High School. Call 845-9966.

* WAIALUA STORIES Professional storyteller Dann Seki shares local tales at 10 a.m. Oct. 21 at Waialua Library. Call 637-8286.

* CHILDREN’S COUNCIL Central District Community Children’s Council meets at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Leilehua Golf Course dining area. Parents of children with special needs are welcome. Call Jane at 655-4777.

* SEAWALL HEARING The city Department of Planning and Permitting holds a hearing at 10 a.m. Oct. 21 on a shoreline setback variance that would allow several Mokuleia house lots to retain a fence, paved seawall and other structures that exceed restrictions on the makai side of Farrington Highway. The hearing is in the City Council committee meeting room of Honolulu Hale. Call 768-8006.

* CALLIGRAPHY Students from the Wahiawa School for Adults calligraphy class with Mary Weite display their art Oct. 23 through Nov. 6 at Wahiawa Library. Call 621-5572.

* CRAFT FAIR Mililani’s Holiday Shopping Spree Gift & Craft Fair is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at Mililani Uka Elementary School. Call 499-5566.

* DOG ADOPTIONS Hawaii Dog Foundation hosts a “meet and greet” session from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at Mililani Mauka Dog Park so prospective adoptive families can get acquainted with the foundation’s homeless dogs. Call 782-8387.

* WARRIOR BUS The UH Football Express shuttles fans from Mililani to Aloha Stadium and back Oct. 24 for the Boise State game and Nov. 7 for Utah State. For fees and details, call Roberts Hawaii at 954-8625.

* DIFFERENCE Make a difference in Wahiawa on Oct. 24 by volunteering for projects with the WCBA at 621-5109, ext. 226.

* PROPAGATION Park staff present a free class on “The Secrets of Plant Propagation"at 9 a.m. Oct. 24 at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Call 621-5463.

* NIGHT WALKS Waimea Valley offers a monthly night walking tour at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 with guide Lopaka Kapanui sharing folklore and legends of the area. Fee is $50 for adults, $40 kamaaina and military, and $35 for children ages 12 to 16. (No keiki under 12 are allowed.) Call 638-7766 for reservations.

* COSTUME PARADES Haleiwa Farmers Market conducts a children’s costume contest at 10 a.m. Oct. 25 followed by a dog parade and costume contest at 11. Keiki activities and the market booths are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 388-9696.

* PLANT CRAFTS Doris Lee leads a class in making banana leaf holiday ornaments at 1 p.m. Oct. 27 at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Fee is $5. Call 621-5463.

* KAWAILOA SETBACKS The city Department of Planning and Permitting conducts a hearing at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 on a shoreline setback variance for property at 61-405 Kamehameha Hwy. in Kawailoa.The hearing is in the City Council committee room at Honolulu Hale. Call 768-8017.

* SPOOKY FOREST Walks at Wahiawa Botanical Garden are creepier from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 and 30 with a haunted cemetery, a ghouls’ cauldron, specters n the trees and the mysterious Green Lady; and it’s free. Call 621-5463.

* BUSINESS EXPO The North Shore Chamber of Commerce and First Hawaiian Bank present the second annual Business Exposition from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Turtle Bay Resort with seminars, promotions and luncheon speaker Howard Dicus. To register, go to http://www.gonorthshore.org.

* ASSISTED LIVING Kaiser Permanente’s Senior Summit program sponsors a free public lecture on “Assisted Living Technology” at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 at its Waipio Clinic, 94-1480 Moaniani St. To register, call 432-2235.

* BASEBALL SIGNUPS Central Oahu Youth Baseball League holds signups from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28, Nov. 4 and 11 at Mililani Ike Elementary School for all age divisions. Bring proof of birth date. Go to http://www.mililanibaseball.org.

* KEIKI CARNIVAL Mililani Baptist Church has a Kids Fall Carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 with safe and exciting fun for preschoolers through grade 5. Planned are games, candy, food, prizes, pony rides, bouncers and more. Call 623-2559.

* ART WALK The monthly Haleiwa Art Walk is open from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 in Haleiwa town, featuring sales, activities and events hosted by dozens of merchants.Call 637-2284.

* TRICK OR TREAT Mililani Shopping Center plans trick or treating for keiki from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 31 with Halloween inflatables and treats from merchants.

November

*WAIALUA BANDSTAND Latin Fire performs at 4 p.m. Nov. 1 at Waialua Bandstand, sponsored by Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Call 637-9721.

* COLLEGE PLAN First Hawaiian Bank and Hawaii Association of College Admission Counseling offer a free college planning workshop at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at Mililani High School, including advice, materials, refreshments and giveaways.

* HULA Kumu hula Ali’i Manu conducts non-competitive hula classes (auana, kahiko and the aloha spirit) for the community at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Mililani Uka Elementary School. Men and women ages 15 and up are welcome to enroll. Call 478-2400.

*WAIMEA HIKES Waimea Valley offers a variety of hikes for visitors every Saturday and Sunday, plus themed walks, crafts, music, games or storytelling every weekday, Let’s Speak Hawaiian on Mondays and Fridays, and much more. For fees and details, call 638-7766.

* STORIES Wahiawa Library has a free preschool storytime at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday for ages 3-5. Call 622-6345.

* WAHIAWA MUSIC Higher Ground Cafe has live entertainment from 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at 70 Kukui St., and is available for rental use. Call 622-8000.

* MEDITATION At Mililani Hongwanji, “Mindfulness Meditation” is offered from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on each second Friday of each month (95-257 Kaloapau St.) Call 625-1022.

* ART IN THE PARK Interested artists meet from 9 to 10 a.m. each Wednesday for self-directed drawing and painting at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Call 621-5463.

* SURF CULTURE The North Shore Surf and Cultural Museum is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day but Tuesday in the North Shore Marketplace, offering displays of vintage boards, posters and much more. Donation is requested. Call 637-8888.
