* LIBRARY CLOSURESAll public libraries close Jan. 18 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and also Jan. 27, a Furlough Wednesday.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 18 in the Mililani High School cafeteria and 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at Wahiawa General Hospital. Call 845-9966.

* WCBA DINNER The Wahiawa Community and Business Association has its installation dinner at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at Leilehua Golf Course with Dan Boylan as guest speaker.Tickets cost $30. Call 621-6531.

* NEIGHBORS Mililani Mauka-Launani Valley Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at Mililani Mauka Elementary School cafeteria, the Wahiawa board meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at Wahiawa District Park, North Shore meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 26 at Alii Beach Park, and Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 at Mililani Rec Center III. * OKINAWAN HEARING The city Planning Commission hears a zone change request at 1:30 pm.Jan. 20 on Hawaii United Okinawa Association’s plan to build a three-story commercial building and two-story parking garage on Ka Uka Boulevard. The hearing is at 530 S. King St. Call 768-8006.

* CHILDREN’S COUNCIL The Central Oahu Children’s Council meets at 6 p.m. Jan. 20 and Feb. 17 in the Leilehua Golf Course dining area. Parents of children with special needs are welcome. Call 655-4777.

* OAC ART The Oahu Arts Center exhibition runs through Jan. 23 at Pauahi Tower Gallery downtown. Call 271-1344.

* BENEFIT SALE Kim Fallas, owner of La Mer Hawaii, announces an inventory sale of her Splash Hawaii collection from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 23 and 24 at 67-180 Kanoena St., near Waialua High School.A portion of the proceeds will go to Waialua Elementary School PTO. Call 375-8102.

* MICRO BUSINESS Micro Business workshops are offered Jan. 23 and 30 and Feb. 6 in Calvary Chapel’s Wahiawa office at 532 California Ave.for low- and moderate-income people wanting to start their own small business. Call Joe at 778-9270.

* SCHOLARSHIP FAIR Leeward Community College hosts a Scholarship Fair from 3 to 7 p.m.Jan.27 in the library to help students get the resources to pay for college. Scholarship funders will attend, answer questions and assist with completing the FAFSA. Call 455-0606.

* MEETING DOGS Hawaii Dog Foundation hosts a “meet and greet” with its adoptable dogs from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 30 at Mililani Mauka Dog Park, 95-1069 Ukuwai St. Call 782-8387.

* NIGHT WALKS Waimea Valley offers night walks with Lopaka Kapanui at 6:30 p.m. Jan.30 and every other month through Nov. 6. Fee is $50 for adults and $35 for children, with kamaaina and military rates available. Call 638-7766.

* ART WALK The monthly Haleiwa Art Walk runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 30, offering activities and exhibits throughout the town. Call 637-4558.

* WHALE COUNT Whale counters and site leaders are needed Jan. 30, Feb. 27 and March 27 for the annual humpback whale count on the North Shore and elsewhere. Call 397-2651, ext. 253.

* CACAO FESTIVAL Haleiwa Farmers’ Market presents a Hawaii Cacao Festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 31 at the corner of Kamehameha Highway and Leong Bypass Road, featuring recipes, displays, prizes and tours of the Waialua Estate Cacao Orchard. Call 388-9696.

* PHOTO SHOW Friends of Waialua Library host a reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 4 for artists in its Focus on Photography exhibit, which runs through April 6 at the library. Call 637-8286.

* LEI MAKING One of Hawaii’s premier lei makers, Brian Choy, leads a free lei making class from 9:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 6 at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. The class is limited to the first 40 participants. Call 373-2722.

* FOR THE MIND “Mindfulness Meditation” is offered from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 12 at Mililani Hongwanji, 95-257 Kaloapau St. The program is a guided, silent and walking meditation based on the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition. Call 625-1022.

* WAIMEA DOINGS Waimea Valley has weekend hikes, plus themed walks, crafts, music, games or storytelling on weekdays, Let’s Speak Hawaiian on Mondays and Fridays, and more. Call 638-7766.

* ART IN THE PARK Interested artists meet from 9 to 10 a.m.each Wednesday for self-directed drawing and painting at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Call 621-5463.

* MILILANI MARKET Mililani High School hosts a Farmers Market from 8 to 11 a.m. Sundays in the gym parking lot. Call 848-2074.

* NORTH SHORE MARKET North Shore Country Market runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at Sunset Beach Elementary School.

* CITY MARKETS People’s Open Market sells produce Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. at Wahiawa District Park and from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mililani District Park. Call 522-7088.
