* WAIALUA HEARING The city Department of Planning and Permitting conducts a hearing at 10:30 a.m. June 29 at Waialua Elementary library on an SMA use permit for Au Kai Kale Makai, a four-home development at 68-091 Au St. Call 768-8032.

* LIBRARY MOVIE Wahiawa Library screens a free “Mystery Meatballs Movie” at 6 p.m. June 29 and “Mystery Vertical Movie” July 6 for families, plus refreshments. Call 622-6345.

* SOLAR SEMINAR RevoluSun leads a solar seminar at 6 p.m. July 1 at Pikake Pavilion at Waimea Valley. Call 748-8888.

* MUSIC, CHESS Honolulu Community Band performs at 1 p.m. July 3 at Mililani Town Center, and Mililani Chess Club hosts a tournament from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10, also at the center. Call 625-5233.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 3 and 17 at Mililani Town Center, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 14 at Mililani Tech Park. Call 845-9966.

* BANDSTAND North Shore Realty presents Na Wahine O Ka Hula Mai Ka Pu’uwai at 4 p.m. July 4 at Waialua Bandstand. Call 638-8088 or 637-9721.

* PADDLEBOARDS The 32nd annual Hui O He’e Nalu Independence Day Paddleboard and Stand Up Paddle Race starts at 11 a.m. July 4 at Sunset Beach. (Entry deadline was June 26.) Call 368-7749.

* BOOSTERS GOLF The Leilehua High School Band Golf Tournament is set for 12:30 p.m. July 7 at Leilehua Golf Course. Fee is $130 per golfer. Call 224-4080.

* WAHIAWA TALES Storyteller James McCarthy entertains with “Say What I Do, Do What I Do” songs and stories at 10:30 a.m. July 7 at Wahiawa Library. Nyla FujiiBabb presents “Blue Water, Blue Waves” in song and story at 10:30 a.m. July 14. Call 622-6345.

* GROUND COVER Wahiawa Botanical Garden has a free workshop on “Tired of Mulching ... Try Planting Ground Covers” at 9 a.m. July 9. Call 621-5463 to register.

* TALK TO CONGRESS U.S. Rep. Charles Djou hosts a forum on spending and the national debt at 11 a.m. July 10 at Mililani High School cafeteria. Call 541-2570.

* MEETING DOGS Hawaii Dog Foundation hosts a “meet and greet” with its adoptable dogs from noon to 2 p.m. July 10 and 24 at Mililani Mauka Dog Park, 95-1069 Ukuwai St. Call 782-8387.

* COLLECTION DRIVE Mililani Hawaii Self Storage (223 Akaimainui St.) welcomes donations for Ho’omalu O Na Kamali’i, a children’s receiving home on the Leeward Coast. Items needed are new clothing, blankets, towels, sports equipment, shoes, slippers, toys, school supplies, backpacks and arts and crafts. Call 521-9531, ext. 224.
