* CAREER FAIR Time Warner Oceanic Cable has a job fair from 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at Hawaii Okinawa Center, 94-587 Ukee St. Go to ocean-ic.com/about_us/jobs.

* PARADE The Wahiawa Veterans Day Celebration begins Nov. 11 with the parade at 10 a.m. from Kaala Elementary to Wahiawa District Park, followed by ceremonies and an after party until 2 p.m. with food, crafts, entertainment and keiki activities at the park. Call 621-0115.


* CLOSURES All public libraries and schools are closed Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.

* MEDITATION “Mindfulness Meditation” begins at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Mililani Hongwanji, 95-257 Kaloapau St. It’s a guided, silent and walking meditation based on the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition. Call 625-1022.

* VEGETABLE CARVING Minister Earl Ikeda from Puna demonstrates vegetable carving at 10 a.m. Nov. 13 at Wahiawa Hongwanji Mission, 1067 California Ave. Call 392-3253.

* HISTORY Wahiawa Historical Society hosts local history expert and author John Clark at “Wet ‘n Wild” at 9 a.m. Nov. 13 at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Clark also heads Hawaiian Historical Society. Call 621-0043.

* CRAYON ART Thomadro Art Gallery shares Jeffrey Robert’s latest crayon creations from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 13 in Haleiwa Town Center, serving pupus and beverages. Call 637-8010.

* LEILEHUA CRAFTS Leilehua Project Grad has a Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 13 in the cafeteria with food, crafts, prizes and entertainment. Vendors should call 781-1212.

* MEETING DOGS Hawaii Dog Foundation hosts a “meet and greet” with its adoptable dogs from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 13 and 27 at Mililani Mauka Dog Park, 95-1069 Ukuwai St. (782-8387).

* PUPUKEA HIKE The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 9-mile intermediate ridge hike to Pupukea at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 14. Go to htmclub.org.

* NEIGHBORS Wahiawa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at Wahiawa District Park; Mililani MaukaLaunani Valley meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Mililani Mauka Elementary. Call 768-3710.


* WREATH CLASS Wahiawa Botanical Garden has a “Succulent Wreath” class at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 16. Fee is $20. Bring gloves and clippers. Call Joyce at 522-7064.

* ISLAM SPEAKER Islam scholar and UH religion professor James Frankel addresses the Wahiawa Lions Club at its dinner, set for 6:45 p.m. Nov. 17 at Dot’s. The public is welcome to the talk (7:30) as well as the meal ($10). Topic is “What Is the Islam that Everybody’s Talking About?” Call Donald Sagara by Nov. 15 at 621-0115.

* HEALTH FAIR Wahiawa Hongwanji Mission has a health fair from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 20 at 1067 California Ave. with demonstrations, health screenings, flu shots and tips on providers and health-care choices. Call 754-8137.

* BLOOD DRIVE Hawaii Blood Bank has a donor drive from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at Mililani Town Center. Call 845-9966.

* GREEN HOUR Wahiawa Botanical Garden presents a Green Hour at 2 p.m. Nov. 24 for families to take a break together from electronic distractions to enjoy the park and outdoor activities. Also on Nov. 24, preschoolers are invited to Storytime in the Garden (including a craft and “a visit to a tree”) at 9:30 a.m. Call Brian at 621-5463.
