The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii Foundation marks its 45th year with a series of Oahu community meetings this month, including one from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Haleiwa Art Gallery, next to North Shore Marketplace.

“Getting community feedback and participation will help the ACLU better fulfill its mission,” said executive director Vanessa Chong. The mission is to protect fundamental freedoms enshrined in the state and federal constitutions.

Community board members and ACLU staff will be on hand to discuss goals and answer questions.

Other meetings are Aug. 18 at Kailua High School, Aug. 19 at Kaiser High and Sept. 9 at UH Manoa’s George Hall. For more information, call 522-5904.
