The U.S. Army Environmental Command has published its final Supplemental Programmatic EIS for growth and realignment in the Pacific, and the public has 30 days from July 25 (until Aug.24) to comment on its evaluation of local impacts.
The Army explored several alternatives on how best to support its military operations in the Pacific theater, with the preferred one bringing 1,700 new soldiers to Schofield Barracks, and 300 more to Fort Shafter - to be accomplished in phases between now and 2013.
The final SPEIS can be downloaded from 222.aec.army.mil. For more information, call the Public Affairs Office at 410-436-2556.
