Oahu Arts Center has auditions this weekend in Wahiawa for its next play, The Sound of Music.

Director and choreographer Kristi Kashimoto is looking to fill all roles in the popular Rodgers & Hammerstein musical - from the high-spirited Maria and brooding Captain Von Trapp to the tiniest of young Von Trapps, townspeople and various nuns and song contestants. Kashimoto will double cast many of the parts.

Tryouts are set for 6 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday at the Applause! Performance Academy, 614 Kilani Ave. Callbacks, as needed, will be on Sunday. If more auditions are needed, they will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 and/or 4 p.m. Aug. 15. For details, call 848-7632 or e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Bring sheet music for a prepared (memorized) 16 to 24 bars of a song in the style of the show, as well as dancing attire, a head shot and performance resume.

Playdates are Nov. 8, 9, 15 and 16; rehearsals will be on weekends. Music director is Elizabeth Maddock.
