Parades in both Mililani and Wahiawa will fill the streets of each community with marchers, floats, performers and a special appearance by Santa Claus.

The Wahiawa parade will start at 6:30 p.m. Friday, beginning at Ka’ala Elementary School on California Avenue and ending at the Wahiawa shopping centers, where Santa will make a stop to pass out candy to good boys and girls. Also planned after the parade: giveaways, Xtreme Fun Rides at 4 p.m. and entertainment by Junior Kekuewa from 6 to 9 p.m.

“The Wahiawa Community and Business Association (parade sponsor) invites everyone in the Wahiawa area to come out, join the fun and get in the Christmas spirit,“said the WCBA president Libby Smithe. For more information, call 621-6531.

Makeila Orta and Marcy Cunningham search the stacks of used books for new reads of their own during the book sale. All sales support programs at the library.

Mililani’s parade will feature more than 500 marchers and will take place the next day - at 9 a.m. Saturday, starting from the Town Center and ending at Mililani Shopping Center. An opening show is at 8:30 a.m. at the town center, and Santa will arrive via an antique fire engine at 9:30 a.m. at the shopping center.

For details on the Mililani parade, call 722-4247.
