BYU-Hawaii Welcomes Its Business-oriented Leader

The Laie campus revs up a few notches this week with the inauguration of BYU-Hawaii’s new president, along with the school’s second annual international business conference.
Top officials from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will preside over ceremonies Nov.6 welcoming Steven Wheelwright as the ninth president of the the Hawaii college. The public and students should be seated by 9:30 a.m. in Cannon Activities Center for the program. A community reception is set for 11:30 a.m.in David McKay Circle.
Wheelwright, a former Stanford business professor and senior associate dean at Harvard Business School’s MBA program, will also address the business conference, which is co-sponsored by Polynesian Cultural Center.
The conference runs from Nov. 6 to 10 with talks by dozens of top executives, including a keynote address from former Dell CEO Kevin Rollins. Among the speakers are Philadelphia Eagles tight end Chad Lewis, former CEO of Times Mirror (now on the PCC board) Mark Willes, and author of The Bear Market Game Plan, Ross Jardine.
