Haleiwa Harbor, which has long suffered deteriorating facilities, should be undergoing renovations by early 2007.

Planned work on the harbor includes electrical improvements and structural repairs to pier 200, as well as the replacement of four fixed concrete piers in the front harbor. In April Gov. Linda Lingle’s office released $415,000 toward the improvements.

In the design stage, which carried an additional price tag of $50,000 in monies previously released, consultants and engineers analyzed the failing facilities and drew up blueprints. Bidding on the construction project was completed last month, and Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. has won the contract for it.
