Helemano Plantation has announced plans for its annual fundraising gala, “Keep the Dream Alive,” which will welcome guests and donors from 5 to 11 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village’s Coral Ballroom. Proceeds from the dinner and silent auction will benefit ORI Anuenue Hale and its services for adults with special needs.

“In these challenging economic times,” said founder and CEO Susanna Cheung, “we are especially thankful for all the support we receive as we continue to grow our organization and serve Oahu’s elderly and developmentally disabled. Our dinner is opportunity for our donors to meet with the clients that they directly impact. That in itself is priceless.”

The evening will include multicultural entertainment and a special number by its ORI clients. ORI (Opportunities of the Retarded Inc.) was founded by Cheung nearly 30 years ago and operates with its for-profit sister organization, Helemano Plantation, just north of Wahiawa.
