Helemano Plantation plans a gala dinner this month in Waikiki to benefit Opportunities for the Retarded Inc. as well as its other programs and services for people with special needs, including the disabled and elderly.

The event is set for 5 to 11 p.m. Dec. 18 in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom on the theme “Keep The Dream Alive.“An expansive silent auction, multicultural entertainment and dinner are planned.

“In these challenging economic times, we are especially thankful for all the support we receive as we continue to grow our organization and serve Oahu’s elderly and developmentally disabled,” said Susanna Cheung, president and chief executive officer of Helemano Plantation and founder of ORI. “Our dinner is an opportunity for our donors to meet with the clients that they directly impact. That in itself is priceless.”
