The city recently completed the reconstruction of Kuahelani Park playcourts in Mililani, giving this central Oahu community another reason to remain healthy and active.

“The previous courts were in bad disrepair,” stated city parks director Lester Chang. “It’s now in excellent condition, and the water drainage off the courts has dramatically improved,” he said of the $490,000 face lift.

Work began in February on the playcourts, located between Lanikuhana and Kuahelani avenues, next to Mililani Uka Elementary School, and included the reconstruction of surfaces for two basketball and two volleyball courts, a play apparatus, a new and improved drinking fountain, ADA access to the school, and grade adjustment walls.

“Making the area attractive and maintained for both young and old helps to keep them active,” Chang added.
