The Friends of Waialua Library will once again showcase the talent of North Shore artists at a reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 celebrating the opening of the North Shore Artists Show at the library.

According to library staff, attendees can expect “great art at great prices” during the annual exhibit. The artists will be on hand to talk about their art, and some pieces are available for purchase.

“I think it is very important for the library to continue in its role as a hub for a wide regional area in representing many aspects of intellectual and artistic inspiration, pleasure and satisfaction,” said Molly Mayher of Friends group.

This two-month exhibit will feature ceramics by artists and students under the direction of artist Mary Lawrence as well as tattoo art by professional tattooists Buddy and Nancy Conte. Former world surf champion Lynne Boyer will show her paintings, and Shannon Harder will have paintings of mermaids on view. Howard Farrant’s masterpieces and Anne Whalen’s exquisite reconfigured jewelry also will be on display.

“We have a great library and community,” Mayher added. “The response to the art show in past years has been heartwarming and satisfying for all participants. Some artists have had an exposure they might not have had otherwise.”

Refreshments and pupus will be served. For more information, call 637-8286.
