Mokuleia-based TV Series Shares Waikiki Spotlight

Del.icio.usThe charms of the North Shore are not squandered on Lost; there’s another TV series filmed in the area and making some inroads with viewers nationwide.
The Mokuleia-filmed Flight 29 Down had a premiere screening for its third season Aug. 26 at Sunset on the Beach. The hit children’s show continues to air on the Discovery Kids Channel and was recently picked up as the signature show for The Cartoon Network in Latin America. It also was nominated by Writers Guild of America for a 2006 writing award, which had impressive competition from PBS’ Reading Rainbow, Nickelodeon’s Just For Kicks, Disney Channel’s Phil of the Future and That’s So Raven.
The show is co-produced by Stan Rogow, DJ McHale and Hawaii Film Partners.
The storyline follows 10 students, who are stranded on an island after a school field trip ends in a plane crash. They survive and go through life lessons in each episode. The production crew is from Hawaii, along with actors Tani Lynn Fujimoto, B.K. Cannon and Blade Rogers.
