OAC Keeps Focus On Art, Wherever It Can

Del.icio.usOahu Arts Center’s winter art exhibition opens Saturday at Pauahi Tower Gallery, showcasing a variety of artwork and photography through Jan. 23 in downtown Honolulu.
“OAC continues its journey to build a performing arts center in Central Oahu,” said member and artist Corinne Gallardo. “In the meantime, we continue holding art shows at other venues in hopes to further educate the public of OAC’s mission to increase the awareness and need for the arts and gain public support for our efforts.“Although the venue is far from Central Oahu, it validates the need for a facility in the area, she added.
Featured artists include Mililani resident Ria KeltzRemenar, in addition to Steven Lun, Julie McIntyre, Tanya D’Avanzo, Nitya Brighenti, Frank Oliva and Shana Squier.
Youth artists also will be acknowledged at the exhibit, as Gallardo believes art is a form of self-expression and internal growth.
“As part of OAC’s performing arts center vision, this facility would provide children with the opportunity and a place to go to nurture and further enhance their creative aspiration.”
The free exhibit runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at 1001 Bishop St., second floor. A reception is set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 11. For details, call 271-1344.
