Groups seeking to preserve Oahu land have until Oct. 1 to apply for grants from the Clean Water and Natural Lands Commission.

The panel will review and recommend projects to the City Council that “support efforts to preserve and protect lands of cultural significance, abundant natural resource and recreational value.”

Funds previously were approved for Sunset Ranch, Kukaniloko, Honouliuli Preserve, Kunia Agricultural Research Station and Senator Fong’s Plantation and Gardens, according to chairwoman Marjorie Ziegler.

In 2006, voters approved setting aside a portion of real property tax revenue for land conservation through the Clean Water and Natural Lands Fund. To apply, go to co.honolulu.hi.us/council/cbc/cwnl.htm.
