The state transportation officials are advising motorists to slow down and be on the look out for a change in speed limits along Kamehameha Highway in the north-bound direction between the northern end of the Joseph P. Leong Highway (Haleiwa Bypass) and Papailoa Road.
The north-bound speed limit has now reduced to 35 mph over this 1.1-mile stretch of Kamehameha Highway to coincide with that of the south-bound lanes, thus allowing for safer turns into and out of adjacent streets. The lower speed also allows for a longer deceleration zone approaching the busy Papailoa Beach, a scenic area with high pedestrian traffic.
