Wahiawa and Mililani student artists were honored nationally this summer in New York City for their achievement in the 2005 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
Among Hawaii’s 12 honorees were Tabitha Taraya (drawings) and Alexandria Rodriguez (photography), both of Leilehua High School; Amber Simpliciano of Mililani High (mixed media), and Jasmine Pang of Mililani Middle School (drawing).
The Carnegie Hall ceremony saluted 1,400 of the nation’s “most talented artists and writers,” conducted workshops for them and put their works on display at the Alliance Gallery, and later at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
