The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation has presented $97,000 in 2009 scholarships to 61 public and private high school seniors across the state, including three outstanding students from Central Oahu schools.
Established by the makers of Hawaiian Host chocolates, the fund has awarded $1.4 million since 1993 to Hawaii students based on academic achievement, community service and financial need.
