Three Central Homecomings Set

Del.icio.usSchool spirit will spill into the streets when homecoming fever hits three Central Oahu schools this month and next.
Sept. 21 - Mililani High School’s homecoming parade begins at 1 p.m. at Mililani Town Center near KFC, marches up to Meheula Parkway and Hookelewaa Street, down Kipapa Drive past Mililani Waena and Kipapa elementary schools and back to the newly dedicated John Kauinana Stadium, named for a longtime athletic director and football coach. The “Blast to our Past"homecoming celebrates the life and times of students who were born between 1990 and 1993, memorable for groups like *NSYNC, Spice Girls and 98 Degrees. Game time against Aiea High is 4 p.m.for junior varsity,and around 7 p.m. for varsity.
Oct. 12 - Leilehua High School will cap off a week of activities with a homecoming game against Campbell at Hugh Yoshida Stadium. The junior varsity team plays at 5 p.m.,the varsity game follows 25 minutes after, around 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free for those under 5,$4 for age 6 to eighth grade, and $6 for everyone else. Oct. 19 - Waialua High & Intermediate will kick off two days of homecoming activities: Friday starts with a 4 p.m. parade of floats on pickup trucks and cars carrying the homecoming court, junior varsity and varsity sweethearts and a faculty escort. The 15-vehicle motorcade starts from the school on Farrington Highway to Kaukonahua Road, through Haleiwa town on Kamehameha Highway and heads back on Haleiwa Beach Road to Waialua Rec Center on Goodale Avenue. From there, some 400 to 500 marchers will head to the high school, where a 6 p.m. bon fire, pep rally and concert awaits. Saturday brings football games vs. Nanakuli High, with junior varsity at 4 p.m. and varsity to follow.
