Towns Muster Up Season’s Lights, Sounds And Spirit

Del.icio.usBetter watch out and make sure not to pout - Santa Claus is parading into Central Oahu this weekend, and to the North Shore on Dec. 14.
* On Friday in Wahiawa town, Santa is the special guest during the Wahiawa Community and Business Association’s annual Christmas Parade.
Starting at 6:30 p.m. from Ka’ala Elementary School, more than 30 floats, units and the Leilehua High School Band will travel up California Avenue to the shopping center, where Santa will be waiting to hear from good boys and girls. Candy will also be passed out along the parade route. For more information or to be part of the festivities, call coordinator Libby Smithe at 621-6531.
* On Saturday St. Nick (aka Santa), Rudolph and the gang will make a pit stop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Town Center of Mililani. Get there early to grab a seat (best ones are between Star and Longs) for the Christmas parade. Free candy, treats and entertainment are planned. * Celebrate “The Lights and Sounds of Christmas” Dec.14 during Historic Haleiwa Town’s annual parade, which starts at 6 p.m. Hula dancers, beauty queens, scouts, horses, soccer teams, a fire engine and three bands, including high school marchers and the Royal Hawaiian Band, will flood main street as 40 unique units travel from the Weed Circle roundabout to Haleiwa Beach Park. Bring a flashlight, lawn chair and blanket. Santa will wait at the North Shore Marketplace under the monkeypod tree for his little friends (4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and after the parade until 8:30 p.m.)
The main road will be closed during festivities and will reopen at 7:15 p.m. The North Shore Chamber of Commerce, the parade sponsor, has more information at 637-4558.
