The Waimea Valley Audubon Center needs volunteers to help during its third annual Malama Waimea work day from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday.
Volunteers can choose to work on trails, weed the corridor or do botanical projects. To offer help, call 638-9199.
“It’s a fun way for the community to come into the valley,” said Kelly Perry, volunteer coordinator.
“It will also be a good way to meet the new director, Rona Rodenhurst, who started May 1.”
Lunch will be served in the Pikake Pavillion for those who worked for the entire morning. Closed-toe shoes and old clothes are recommended. Children should be supervised by their parents.
“It’s a way for the community to make the valley their own,” added Perry.
