Waimea Valley Audubon Centre hosts two upcoming concerts that feature well-known local and international musical artists.
Richard Thompson and Danny Thompson, with special guest Makana, will perform at the center at 8 p.m. Nov. 18. Considered among the “best 100 all-time guitarists” in a Rolling Stone magazine poll, singer/songwriter Richard Thompson springs from the ‘60s folk rock era. Tickets are $25 in advance, or $30 at the door, and are available at Surf & Sea in Haleiwa.
Hot Buttered Rum plays at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Waimea to benefit Hana Honua Life Boat Charity. Opening act is Hawaii’s ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro. Tickets are $22, or $25 at the door; $12 for children age 12 and under. For details, call 262-0945.
The band plays bluegrass, folk, jazz, rock and blues, traveling the country in a bus that runs on vegetable oil. Their latest CD, Well Oiled Machine, is named for their beloved tour bus.
