The Miss Rodeo Hawaii pageant is looking for a few great cowgirls to compete in this year’s pageant - Hawaii’s first in nine years.

The winner will go on to vie for the Miss Rodeo America title Dec. 1-8 in Las Vegas, where a total of $125,000 in scholarships await the top 15 winners.

The Miss Rodeo Hawaii pageant and crowning is set for June 30 after the day’s Hawaii Women’s Rodeo Association Jackpot rodeo. The event begins at 10 a.m. at Kawailoa Ranch in Haleiwa. Pageant application deadline is May 31. The winner receives a tiara, buckle, trophy and a $500 gift certificate to Paniolo Trading.

All Hawaii women residents who have never been married or pregnant and who are between 19 and 26 years old are eligible to compete. For details, visit www.rodeooahu.com/news. For rules, call HWRA president Lu Faborito at 696-5055.
