The longest stream in Haleiwa needs your help to keep its waters healthy.
Heidi and Nate Burgoyne, founders of the stand up paddling school Rainbow Watersports Adventures, will host their fifth Anahulu Stream cleanup beginning at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 18, and they welcome all interested volunteers. Participants should meet at Haleiwa Beach Park, down the road from Surf-n-Sea near the lineup of outrigger canoes. Just look for their colorful Rainbow Watersports van. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their stand up paddle boards, canoes or kayaks. Equipment is available if needed. For more information call 372-9304 or visit www.rainbowwatersports.com.
Rainbow Watersports has completed four cleanups so far this year, digging out a tent, car parts and more from the stream, which is home to sea turtles, fish and crabs, not to mention the children and families who enjoy using it for fun recreational activities.
