Two Central Oahu schools were among the 31 winning entries in ‘Olelo’s 2010 Youth Xchange Video Competition.

A team from Leilehua High School won in the News category for Mud Pit, and Kipapa Elementary took first place in Mini Documentary (Kipapa’s Wish Garden) and Peacemaker (End Road Rage).

Local news media, film-making professionals and subject experts served as judges and selected winners based on subject impact and technical production. Each winning school received a video camera and consumer digital video camera from Sony.

“The judges were uniformly impressed by the insight, creativity and overall quality of the videos submitted this year,” said Keali’i Lopez, ‘Olelo Community Media president/CEO. “Students are definitely refining how they communicate their messages.”
