Ceremonies were held Aug. 28 at Schofield to award the third annual Nainoa Hoe Scholarship of Honor to Mikael Anthony Torres, a Waipahu High JROTC graduate and freshman at UH. Kaylarae Santos-Paglinawan is one of the “Top 3” grand-prize winners in the state library’s Teen Summer Reading Program. Kaylarae entered through Wahiawa Library. The three winners each selected a numbered pizza box that contained cool-butinedible prizes like digital and video cameras. Other local finalists in the Pizza Hut-sponsored program include Kristine Mina (Waialua Library), Kellianna Ward (Mililani) and Chenoa Yorgason (Kahuku)
