Below are highlights of what’s happening in the East Oahu community in the next few weeks.

* BOARDS Area neighborhood boards meet at 7 p.m. on the following dates: Kuliouou-Kalani Iki, June 7 at Aina Haina Library; Palolo Neighborhood Board, June 13 in the Palolo Elementary School cafeteria; Diamond Head-Kapahulu-St. Louis Heights board, June 14 at the Ala Wai clubhouse. Kaimuki, June 20 at Liliuokalani Elementary School; Waialae-Kahala, June 21 at Wesley United Methodist Church; and Hawaii Kai, June 26 at Hahaione Elementary School. Call 527-5749.

* SANDY BEACH The Sierra Club leads a service project at Sandy Beach at 8:30 a.m. June 10. Call 394-2898. The club also plans a full-moon hike and recruitment night June 30 at Makapuu.


* REMODELING Koko Marina Center presents tips for Kitchen Bath & Remodeling from 3 to 6 p.m. June 10 along with booths, entertainment and “outdoor fun” sponsored by Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream. Call 395-4737.

* RIDGE HIKE The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 6-mile, intermediate ridge hike in St. Louis Heights at 8 a.m. June 10. Go to http://www.htmclub.org * BONSAI The Pacific Bonsai Club conducts its annual free plant fair and exhibit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m June 10 at Kilauea Recreation Center, 4109 Kilauea Ave. Call 737-7156.

* Hawaii Kai Lions Club’s annual Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast is set for 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. June 17 in the Kaiser High School cafeteria. Tickets are $6 at the door. Call 395-4012.

* BLOOD The Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 11 in the Hawaii Kai Library meeting room; from 7 to 11 a.m. June 17 at Kahala Mall near Macy’s men’s department; and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 25 in the KCC parking lots. Call 845-9966.

* VEGETARIANS Attorney Michele Simon speaks to the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii at 7 p.m. June 12 at Ala Wai Clubhouse on “Appetite for Profit: How the Food Industry Undermines our Health.” Call 384-4764.

* NEWCOMERS The Honolulu Newcomers Club hosts a Welcome Coffee at 10 a.m. June 14 and its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. June 21. Call 591-7600.

* SAT TESTS Raymond Karelitz conducts a four-part class on preparing for the Scholastic Assessment Test from noon to 2:30 p.m. June 17, 24, July 1 and 8 in the Kaiser High library. Call 261-6666 or go to the school office.


* HEART TALK Kahala Nui hosts a Kaiser Permanente “senior summit” talk on cardiovascular disease at 10:30 a.m. June 28. Call 432-2235. * MUSIC Kona Brewing Co. Pub in Koko Marina Center offers live music at 7 p.m. Wednesdays , Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays’; and Sundays from 6 to 8 p.m. Call 394-5662.

* HULA Halau Kawaihoa has free classes in competitive hula from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays at Hahaione Elementary School for serious students. Call 292-2738.

* YOGA Inner Fire Hawaii holds Kundalini and Hatha yoga classes at 6 p.m. Tuesdays in Portlock. Fee is $10 per class. Call 255-9839.
