Below are highlights of what’s happening in the East Oahu community in the next few weeks.
* HANAUMA Hanauma Bay Education Center offers free lectures and films at 6:30 p.m. each Thursday in April at the park theater, featuring researchers at the Papahanaumokuakea National Marine Monument. The April 3 topic is whales and dolphins. Call 397-5840.
* NEIGHBORS Area neighborhood boards meeting at 7 p.m. this month include: Kuliouou-Kalani Iki on April 3 at Aina Haina Library; Palolo April 9 in the Palolo Elementary School cafeteria; Diamond Head-Kapahulu-St. Louis Heights April 10 at the Ala Wai Clubhouse; Kaimuki April 16 in the Liliuokalani Elementary School cafeteria; Waialae-Kahala April 17 at Wesley United Methodist Church; and Hawaii Kai April 29 in the Hahaione Elementary School cafeteria. * CRAFT FAIR Kaimuki High School’s Project Graduation conducts a spring crafter fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m April 5 at the school featuring crafts, food and rummage. Call 780-6756.
* BASKETBALL CLINIC Extreme Fitness Club offers a youth basketball clinic on Saturdays from April 5 to May 24 at Palolo Valley District Park for ages 8 to 13. Call 389-7633.
* BENEFIT DINNER Kaimuki High School Foundation’s benefit dinner runs from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 5 at the school. Donation is $25. Call 255-2653.
* SPIRITUALITY Well-known author Sister Joan Chittister lectures on “Spirituality and Culture” at 4 p.m. April 6 in the Mystical Rose Oratory at Chaminade. For details on the talk and a related April 5 workshop, call 735-4801.
* ORCHESTRA The Oahu Civic Orchestra presents a free spring “classics to pops” concert at 4 p.m. April 6 in the Kaimuki High School auditorium, featuring work by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Rossini and Leroy Anderson. Call 261-6127.
* VEGETARIANS Chef Jennifer Flynn presents “The Super Food Generation: 14 Foods that will get you glowing” at 7 p.m. April 8 at Ala Wai Clubhouse, 404 Kapahulu Ave. The free cooking demonstration is sponsored by the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii. Call 944-8344.

* MYANMAR FESTIVAL Hawaii’s Myanmar community hosts a Thingyan Festival from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at Wilson Elementary School to celebrate the new year with food, games, booths and exhibits. Call 851-7010.
* WAIALAE FAIR The Friends of Waialae Elementary School conduct their annual family fun fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 19 with food, entertainment, rides, crafts and much more. Call 733-4880.
* FAMILY HISTORY KCC hosts ‘Ohana Chronicles, a workshop on documenting family histories, at 5:45 p.m. April 24 or 6 p.m. July 30 with social gerontologist and filmmaker Janette Sargent-Hamill. Fee is $40. Call 734-9211.
* WISNOSKY ART The art of the late John Wisnosky - former chairman of the UH art department - is on view through April 17 at the Koa Gallery at Kapiolani Community College. Call 734-9375.
