Below are highlights of what’s happening in the East Oahu community in the next few weeks.

* “Baby and Me” classes meet at 9 a.m. Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at Moku Ola Hawaiian Healing Center in Koko Marina Center, showing parents lomilomi techniques for their infants’ health. Fee is $60. Call 394-6658.


* Kona Brewing Co. Pub has live music at 7 p.m. Wednesdays with Owana Salazar (Sept. 6), Paula Fuga (Sept. 13), Round n Round (Sept. 20) and Kaukahi (Sept. 27); Thursdays it’s Weldon Kekauoha (Sept. 7, 14, 21) and Kaukahi (Sept. 28); Fridays it’s Naluhoe; Saturdays with Jon Osorio and Stephen Brown; and Sundays from 6 to 8 p.m. it’s Kaukahi (Sept. 10) and Ledward Kaapana (Sept. 17, 24). * Area neighborhood boards meet at 7 p.m. on the following dates: Kuliouou-Kalani Iki Sept. 7 in Aina Haina Library; Palolo Sept. 13 in Palolo Elementary cafeteria; Diamond Head-Kapahulu-St. Louis Heights Sept. 14 in Ala Wai Clubhouse; Kaimuki Sept. 20 in Liliuokalani Elementary cafeteria; Waialae-Kahala Sept. 21 at Wesley United Methodist Church; and Hawaii Kai Sept. 26 in Hahaione Elementary cafeteria.

* Hui Nalu Canoe Club holds a recycling drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at Maunalua boat ramp, in cooperation with Schnitzer Steel. Metal, paper, appliances, bikes, auto parts and more are welcome. Call 306-1876 or 228-0027.

* The city Planning and Permitting staff hears zoning variance applications at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in the City Hall Annex for homes at 1414 Wilhemina Rise and 1526 Palolo Ave. Call 527-5046.


* Kapiolani Community College offers Sunday photography courses starting Sept. 17. Classes meet 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for six weeks (basics) and 1-4 p.m. (intermediate). Fee is $150. Call 734-9211.

* Honolulu Century Bike Ride passes through Hawaii Kai Sept. 24 with no road closures. Cones will block off one full lane of Kalanianaole Highway for cyclists during the race, which begins at 6 a.m. One first aid station is at Kuapa Isle Preschool. Call 735-5756.

* Hanauma Bay Education Center presents videographer Ziggy Livnat of Sea Productions at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 in the park theater, showing Hawaiian Blue - The Encounters. The Sept. 14 topic is a Northwestern Hawaiian Islands trip. Call 397-5840.

* The Honolulu Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Hawaii Kai Towne Center; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at Kaimuki Plaza; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 at Chaminade; 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Kahala Mall; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 25 at KCC, parking lot E. * The Vegetarian Society presents registered dietitian Catherine Conway at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Ala Wai Clubhouse. Her topic is “Eat, Drink and Be Merry” Call 944-8344.
