* CRATER CLOSURE The state DLNR closes Diamond Head Crater Monument from Nov. 17 to 20 to remove rock-fall hazards above the Kahala tunnel entrance. Call 587-0300.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 8 a.m.to 3 p.m.Nov. 17 at KCC and from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at Kahala Mall by Macy’s. Call 845-9966.

* NEIGHBORS Area neighborhood boards, all meeting at 7 p.m., include Kaimuki Nov. 19 at Liliuokalani Elementary School cafeteria; Waialae-Kahala Nov. 20 at Wesley United Methodist Church; Hawaii Kai Nov.25 at Hahaione Elementary School cafeteria; and Kuliouou-Kalani Iki Dec. 4 at Aina Haina Library. * CHILDREN’S COUNCIL The East Honolulu Community Children’s Council meets at 5 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Aina Haina Elementary School media room. Parents of children with special needs are invited. Call 428-1738.

* HANAUMA CLASSES Hanauma Bay Education Center presents three free lectures at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the nature preserve’s theater. Topics include fish sex and fishery management, humpback whale communication, and an Oahu shoreline study. Call 397-5840.

* FLUTE CLASS Troy “Good Medicine” De Roche conducts a Native American flute workshop at 1 p.m. Nov. 22 in Chaminade University’s Loo Theater. Fee is $30 in advance or $40 at the door. Call 734-8018.

* BEACH CLEANUP Volunteers with the Sierra Club clean up Sandy Beach at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 23. Call 538-6616.

* BOOK FAIR Liholiho Elementary School sponsors a book fair Nov. 28-30 at Barnes & Noble Kahala and Ala Moana. A percentage of receipts will be donated to the school. Student art work also is on view at both stores. Call 733-4850.

* STORYTELLER Master storyteller Ashley Ramsden presents tales of 13th-century Islamic Persian Sufi poet and mystic Jelaluddin Rumi at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 and a dramatization of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at Honolulu Waldorf School. The public is invited. Admission is $10 and $5. Call 377-5471.

* KAHALA SHOWS Kahala Mall’s free shows include Honolulu Boy Choir at 11 a.m. Nov. 28; Willie K at 2 p.m. and Honolulu Community Concert Band at 4 p.m. Nov. 29; John Cruz at 2 pm. Nov. 30.

* KAIMUKI PARADE The 62nd Kaimuki Christmas Parade begins at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at Chaminade, travels down Waialae to Koko Head Avenue, followed by the tree lighting by the fire station and Santa Claus. call 732-8787.
