* JUNIOR GOLF The Pro-Junior Skills Challenge starts at 3 p.m Jan. 13 on the 18th green at Waialae Country Club. The Sony Open event is free to the public.

* AINA HAINA FORUM Aina Haina Community Association meets with the new owners of Aina Haina Shopping Center at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 at Aina Haina Elementary School cafeteria. Call 373-3402.

* ARCHITECT TALK Architect Anthony Ngai discusses his designs and philosophy at an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 15 at Hawaii Gifted Association, 4767 Farmers Road. Call 597-8824.

* ROYAL MUSIC Royal Hawaiian Band performs at 11 a.m. Jan. 17 at Kahala Mall.


 

* MAKAPUU HIKE Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 2-mile hike to Makapuu lookout at 8 a.m. Jan. 17 and a 6-mile hike on Wailupe Loop Jan. 25. Visit www.htmclub.org.

* ECK WORSHIP Honolulu Eckankar Center has a service at 10 a.m. Jan. 18 at Kaimuki Community Park, a spiritual study at 8 p.m. Jan. 19 at 1056 12th Ave. and a dream workshop at 2 p.m. Jan. 31. Call 735-7719.

* HANAUMA CLEANUP Friends of Hanauma Bay clean up the beach, park and nearby streets from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Jan. 18. Meet in the upper picnic area for assignments and bags. Call 395-1217.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has drives from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 18 at Kahala Mall; 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at KCC; 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at Saint Louis; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 30 at Chaminade; and 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Hawaii Kai Towne Center. Call 845-9966.

* TUVA FILM The Movie Museum screens the documentary Genghis Blues Jan.25 and 30 in conjunction with the Jan. 31 performance of Tyva Kyzy, the female throat singers, at Leeward Community College. Call 735-8771.


* STARGAZING The Hawaiian Astronomical Society hosts a star party at sunset Jan. 31 at Kahala Community Park on Pahoa Avenue. Telescopes and facts are provided. Call 737-4742.

* NEW YEAR Market City welcomes the year of the ox from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 31 with a lion dance, firecrackers and taiko.
