* BOE MEETING The Board of Education meets in the Honolulu District May 7 at 3:30 p.m.(committees) and 7 p.m. (public testimony) at Kaiser High. Call 586-3332.

* MAMMA MIA Kahala Mall combines Mother’s Day with Mamma Mia! promotions from noon to 2 p.m. May 9 featuring merchandise from the musical, prizes and a dance contest to ABBA’s Dancing Queen - judged by Kim Gennaula and Guy Hagi, and emceed by Sweetie Pacarro. Call 732-7736.

* SAFETY Queen’s hospital, Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition and Think First conduct a Keiki Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 9 at Aina Haina Elementary School to check carseats and helmets.A rose for Mom goes to the first 50 families.

* SOLAR OPEN HOUSES Sunetric hosts solar open houses from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9 at 1328 Ekaha Ave. and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17 at 909 3rd Ave., and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17 at 742 Aipo St.to showcase solar and photovoltaic systems that have saved up to $120 per month the owners’ electric bill.
