* ADULT SCHOOL Registration for spring classes is Jan. 9-21 at Kaimuki/Kaiser Community School for Adults at Kaimuki High School. For details, call 733-8460 or 395-1236 (Kaiser High site).

* AAUW SCHOLARSHIPS Deadline is Jan. 10 to apply for the $500 AAUW Diamond Head/Koko Head branch $500 scholarship for women in undergraduate studies at UH Manoa or KCC. For details, e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

* ST. LOUIS HEIGHTS The St. Louis Heights Community Association has its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at Hokulani Elementary School to discuss proposed improvements at Waahila State Park. Call 737-5654.

* THE BIG PICTURE Living Streams Christian Fellowship hosts a series beginning Jan. 11 on “God’s Story and Yours: How do they connect?” The course meets at 6 p.m. Mondays through April 26 at 1419 10th Ave. E-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 7 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 13 at Saint Louis School, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Kahala Mall by the trolley stop, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at Kapiolani Community College, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 26 at Chaminade University, 3:15 to 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at Hawaii Kai Towne Center and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at Kahala Mall between Macy’s and Longs Drugs. * BOOK SIGNING Arnold Hiura signs copies of Kau Kau, Cuisine and Culture in the Hawaiian Islands from 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at Barnes & Noble Kahala Mall.

* EAST OAHU HIKES Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 2-mile hike at 8 a.m. Jan. 16 to the Makapuu lighthouse viewpoint. Also planned is a -2-mile novice hike at 8 a.m. Jan. 30 in Kuliouou valley. Go to http://www.htmclub.org.

* MAUNALUA MONDAY Malama Maunalua presents Maunalua Monday at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at the group’s community house, 4211 Waialae Ave., in partnership with Whole Foods Market. The public is welcome at the free “talk story,” which is held on the first and third Monday to raise awareness about the bay and water quality issues. Call 738-0820.

* CHILDREN COUNCIL East Honolulu Community Children’s Council meets at 5 p.m. Jan. 20 in Aina Haina Elementary School media room. Parents of children with special needs are welcome. Call 428-1738.

* SLOW FOOD TIPS The KCC chapter of Slow Food plans a cooking demonstration Jan. 23 at KCC Farmers Market.

* EYE GLASSES DRIVE Koko Head Lions Club collects used eye glasses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 23 and 24 at Kahala Mall fronting Macy’s and Longs. Call 732-7736.

* WHALE COUNT The 2010 Sanctuary Ocean Count of humpback whales is set for Jan. 30, Feb. 27 and March 27 at Oahu shoreline sites. To help, call 397-2651, ext. 253.

* CHERRY BLOSSOMS Cherry Blossom Festival contestants visit Kahala Mall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 30. Call 732-7736.

* CHURCH’S 40TH Kaimuki Christian Church marks its 40th year with a Feb. 6 dinner and program. All current and past members invited. Call 732-1781.
