* ART LECTURES Betty Chapman Neogy gives free public lectures on the history of Japanese art at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 30 and each Monday and Wednesday through Sept. 29 at Kahala Nui’s Diamond Head room. Call 533-4165.

* SACRED CHOIR Auditions for all ages are open through mid-September for the new Hawaii Sacred Choir, directed by Rev. Daniel Werning of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Kapahulu. Rehearsals also will be held at St. Mark’s. Call 220-6969.

* SPECIAL OLYMPICS Tesoro’s Kapahulu gas station accepts donations to Special Olympics Hawaii Sept. 1-Oct. 5 in its islandwide “Fueling Dreams” campaign to support the SO Holiday Classic. Those who give at least $5 will be entered in a drawing for a $500 fuel card. Call 943-8808.
