Below are highlights of what’s happening in the East Oahu community in the next few weeks.

* BOARDS Area neighborhood boards meeting at 7 p.m. this month are Diamond Head-Kapahulu-St. Louis Heights, Feb. 8 at Ala Wai clubhouse; Palolo, Feb. 14 at Palolo Elementary School cafeteria; Waialae-Kahala, Feb. 15 at Wesley United Methodist Church; Kaimuki, Feb. 21 at Liliuokalani Elementary; and Hawaii Kai, Feb. 27 at Hahaione Elementary. * OCEAN Hanauma Bay Education Center presents a free lecture at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in the park theater on 2006 Dive Season Highlights. Next up: Deepwater Animals Feb. 15 and Expeditionary Oceanographic Missions Feb.22.Call 397-5840.


* NEWCOMERS Honolulu Newcomers Club has a Welcome Coffee at 10 a.m. Feb. 8 and a monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 15. Call 396-2628.

* FAIR Liholiho Elementary School has a fun fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 10 with games, food, crafts, bouncers, a silent auction and more. Call 733-4850.

* LANDSCAPING Koko Marina Center hosts “Remodeling Made Easy” at 3 p.m. Feb. 11, followed by music from Rubber Soul. Topic is “Lavish Landscapes.” Call 395-4737.

* CAR WASH A car wash runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Chevron station at Waialae and 21st avenues to benefit the ASICS 18-and-under boys volleyball team. Donation is $15 to $6, depending on vehicle size.

* FAIR Sacred Hearts Academy hosts its “Superfair” from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 16 and 17 with games, food, baked goods, crafts, plants, etc. Call 734-5058, ext. 229.

* CHOLESTEROL Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii has free cholesterol screenings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 17 at Kahala Mall.

* RETIREMENT Retirement workshops are set for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 21 and 28 at Kaimuki High School. Call 733-8460.

* DEATH Honolulu Eckankar Center hosts a free forum at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 24 on “What Happens after We Die?” Light refreshments are planned. The center is at 1056 12th Ave. # 201. Call 735-7719.


* WHALES Whale counters are needed Feb. 24 and March 31 at Makapuu Point, Halona Blowhole, Lanai Lookout, Hanauma Bay and other sites. Call 397-2651, ext. 253.

* MUSIC The Honolulu Youth Symphony concert orchestra plays at 2 p.m. Feb. 25 at Kahala Mall.

* HEARING Kaiser Permanente hosts a free talk on hearing loss at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 22 at Kahala Nui. Call 432-2235.

* PUBLISHING Hawaii Kai author Rich Budnick holds a free self-publishing workshop at 2 p.m. Feb. 25 at Kaimuki Library. Call 395-1161.

* MUSIC Kona Brewing Co.Pub in Koko Marina Center has live music this month at 7 p.m. Wednesdays with Boogie & Friends; Thursdays with Weldon Kekauoha and Friends; Fridays with Naluhoe; Saturdays with Stephen Brown and Jon Osorio; and Sundays from 6 to 8 p.m. with Ledward Kaapana (and Fusion on Feb. 11).
