Sacred Hearts Academy encourages girls in grades 5 to 8 to dream big at the 16th annual Science Symposium for Girls, set for 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kaimuki campus.

The free program highlights careers available to women in the dynamic fields of math,science,engineering and technology. They can pick two sessions among 19 to attend,each with a hands-on workshop led by a local professional.Keynote speaker James Kerr, founder of SuperGeeks, also will provide a look into future prod-uct/technological innovations.


Experts from the state Attorney General’s Internet and Technology Crimes Unit, the Missing Child Center-Hawaii and Sacred Hearts will lead an Internet safety panel for parents, providing tips on how to communicate with “cyber"teens and ways to safely navigate cyberspace.
