All the World’s a Stage Theatre Company has a mission to “provide theater everywhere,” and its latest production - the award-winning drama Closer - will be staged in a Kaimuki publishing company warehouse and in downtown Honolulu.

Bess Press Warehouse on Harding Avenue will host the initial shows Nov. 12-14 and 19-21. Curtain is 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The Nov. 26-28 shows are at The Venue on Bethel Street.

Written by Patrick Marber and directed by R. Kevin Doyle, Closer relates the intricate relationships between four people - Anna, Alice, Dan and Larry. In a play filled with dark humor, Doyle challenges viewers to ask if truth and honesty are compatible with love and happiness. The characters mix and match in their love quadrangles throughout the play as relationships are destroyed. Doyle said the playwright shows the beginnings and endings of relationships and nothing in between - the audience is left to fill in the gaps.

Closer has adult language and situations not suitable for young audiences. Tickets cost $18 general, $15 seniors and $10 students.

Sunday admission is “pay what you can” on a space-available basis, with advance ticket purchases at regular prices. Tickets may be purchased online at awstheatre.org or at the door.
