Recycle Phone Books At The Mall

Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages challenges Oahu residents to Think Yellow, Go Green with its directory recycling program.
“We were so impressed by the 90 tons of recycled directories last year,” said Neila Visitacion, field marketing manager for HYP Media, publisher of Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages.“But we want to set the bar higher, and we know Oahu residents can step up to make this year an even greater success.”
Every weekend, from 10 am. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, through Feb. 14, volunteers from the Lokahi Giving Project will collect outdated Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages directories and those from other publishers at Kahala Mall. The container is located next to the Trolley Stop on Kilauea Avenue, across from Macy’s.
At the close of the program on Feb. 14, the recycled directories will be transported to local recycling plant Island Shell LLC, where they will be converted into environmentally safe products, including materials for vehicle oil change kits, mulch and wall-insulation products.
