Recycling Drive At Kalani High

Del.icio.usAloha Aina Earth Day comes to Kalani High School from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.April 24, bringing a major recycling drive to benefit D.A.R.E.
A document shredding service also is available, and U.S. Census staff will be there to recruit help ($17 per hour).
Spearheaded by local law-makers and businesses, the drive is coordinated by Rene Mansho of Schnitzer Steel, a metal recycler that will give its proceeds to Drug Abuse Resistance Education, a program that helps youths stand up to peer pressure.
Welcome are scrap metal, auto parts, bicycles, metal appliances, cell phones, newspapers, phone books, cardboard, plastic bags and hangers,printer cartridges,computers (one per car), HI-5 beverage containers, passenger tires, green waste, eyeglasses, hearing aids, cooking oil and all kinds of batteries. Usable clothing and household items will go to Goodwill Industries. Also, incandescent light bulbs can be exchanged for CFL bulbs (two per person).
