Comfy cushions are all the buzz at Diamond Head Theatre, and that isn’t the name of a new musical. The off-stage news is that, thanks to two grants, the theater has repaired and replaced cushioning on all of its seats.

“The seats were successfully repaired, and our customers are thrilled,” said DHT executive director Deena Dray. “The seats were really awful - springs poking into patrons’ okoles. We even had some folks bringing pillows.”

Making it all possible were Atherton Family Foundation ($10,000) and McInerny Foundation ($7,500).

“We kept putting it off, as it seemed like a huge undertaking, both financially and logistically,” said Dray. “With the grant support we felt we could swing it, and to save money we decided to just do the bottom cushions in a complementary color.”

As they say in show biz, the show must go on - and it has. The cushions were installed in time for DHT’s The Sound of Music, which continues through Sunday - with no squeaky, poky seats.
