Plenty of deserving fathers got their fill of pancakes and cornbread - and sausage, eggs, rice, milk, juice and coffee - at the Hawaii Kai Lions Club’s 34th annual breakfast June 15 in the air-conditioned Kaiser High School cafeteria. “We served a little more than 3,300 people that day,” said club secretary Mervin Wee. Those who “ate in” also enjoyed music by Dennis Ching & Friends and 26 New Hope hula dancers. The Kaiser girls soccer team volunteers and parents, who filled in for the baseball team that had a game, “were a blessing for us,” Wee added. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts also did their part to honor dads at the fundraiser. Proceeds pay for club projects, including a parking lot repainting in August at Koko Head School.
