The Best Female Artist at the 2009 Native American Music Awards is coming to Kaimuki next week. Joy Harjo will sign copies of her latest CD, Winding through the Milky Way, from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 12 at the American Indian Store (formerly Native Winds) on Koko Head Avenue. Joy lives here part time and also paddles with Hui Nalu Canoe Club. Her creativity knows no bounds. A member of the Mvskoke (Creek) Nation, she has authored seven books of poetry, produced four CDs, written a children’s book and plays saxophone in her touring band (734-8018) ...
