An active volunteer for the American Heart Association, Pearl works as senior cardiovascular sonographer of Queen’s Heart and has been with the hospital since 1981. Among her many awards, she gets $2,000 in travel vouchers or savings bonds and free parking for a year ...

Kaimuki ballerina Erica Wong, 18, took first place in a recent American Ballet competition in Austin, Texas. Her teacher, John Landovsky of Hawaii State Ballet, says she is the first classically trained dancer from Hawaii to achieve such an honor.
