Her coworker Maribel Carvalho was honored as an Outstanding Assistant Manager, as was Jaren DeYoung of the Palolo eatery ... Matthew Flores, a Kaiser High senior, has completed basic Army Reserve training at Fort Benning, Ga., under the “split option” program for high school students. Matt will attend weekend drills this school year and then become a member of the Guard or Reserve after graduation ... Diligent Hawaii Kai researcher Richard Budnick has discovered 700 new streets since his Hawaiian Street Names book was first published nearly 20 years ago. Look for the updated version to come out soon ... Kanani Rogers lives on a street in Hawaii Kai, but these days she’s playing the orphan Pepper in Army Community Theatre’s musical Annie, on stage now through Dec. 2 (438-4480) ...

Alvin Adams‘30-year career as a diplomat took him all over the world, including posts as U.S. Ambassador, projects with Henry Kissinger and as a deputy for counter terrorism. Alvin speaks four languages, has the Medal of Valor, and often speaks on behalf of the United Nations. These and many other gems are on his resume.
